New Delhi, Aug. 13 The Finance Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, on Wednesday expressed confidence that Indian economy would grow close to 8 per cent in 2008-09. This observation came on a day when the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council projected a growth rate of 7.7 per cent for the economy during 2008-09. “If the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council pegs it at 7.7 per cent, I can confidently say that it will be close to 8 per cent”, Mr Chidambaram told reporters here.
